Titirangi Campus

16 Hilling Street, Titirangi

We warmly welcome you and your family to Titirangi Private Kindergarten.

Titirangi Private Kindergarten is a home away from home. A place where children can thrive in a nurturing and supportive learning environment.

Our experienced and qualified teaching team prioritises children’s development of self-worth, encouraging and supporting children to stand tall and confident in themselves and recognise and celebrate their unique strengths and abilities.

We provide a wide range of learning materials, equipment, and activities and maintain a careful balance between free play and structured learning groups or organised activities. Children are introduced to core learning areas including numeracy, literacy and science through fun and educational games and equipment. We provide an environment that is rich in literacy and numeracy that encourages children to develop confidence in themselves and a love of learning. This helps the children to smoothly transition from kindergarten to school and sets them up to be successful lifelong learners.

Our natural environment lends itself to many health and learning benefits for our children. Children have the opportunity to learn about the natural world around them as well as core learning areas such as maths, science and literacy through hands on meaningful experiences within their play and interaction with the natural environment.

Being immersed in nature and actively exploring and discovering the natural world around them, children play in an environment and landscape that has limitless opportunities for purposeful and meaningful learning opportunities in real time, sparked by children’s natural curiosity in the clean fresh air.

We welcome children from 2- 6 years.

Session times available

8.30-1.00pm

Constant updating of our equipment alongside children working alongside our qualified and experienced teaching team ensures continual development and extension allowing children to work at various levels within the 2-6 year range.

Our beliefs

Each child has their own strengths and special gifts. It is the challenge of all teachers to develop and nurture these strengths and gifts. As children develop at different rates socially, emotionally and intellectually it is essential to take an approach that caters for each individual child.

Successful and happy experiences in children’s work and play are necessary for the development of their own positive self-esteem.

If children progress from kindergarten to school with a feeling of confidence, a conviction that they are understood and appreciated for who they are and what they can accomplish, then they will be much better prepared for the challenges of school and life.

With positive guidance and interaction with caring teachers, children will learn confidence in themselves, confidence in others and will value themselves as important and special.

Environment

Children gain knowledge and respect for their natural world while learning and having fun. Research has shown that outdoor experiences in natural environments have a direct, beneficial influence on children’s cognitive and physical development.

Curriculum Planning

We adopt a flexible approach to planning which includes both planned units of work in particular themes as well as spontaneous areas of interest introduced by the children. Teachers are able to recognise children’s interests during their work and play and extend their learning through thoughtful interaction and guidance.

Each topic/theme covers a range of different curriculum areas such as
  • Science and Nature
  • Social Sciences
  • Arts
  • Drama

As well as
  • Reading
  • Maths concepts
  • Writing skills

We provide an excellent transition to school programme that has been proven successful and we have had great feedback from schools about the children coming from our centre.

Our routine is structured similarly to a school routine so that children transition easily to a school day structure, with children gaining the skills necessary to move from kindergarten to school with ease. Children will gain skills in early reading and writing in our literacy rich teaching practice.
